About Me
Hhhhmmm...I always struggle to talk about myself, it always feels narcissistic. Well, the basics are, I grew up in Valley Stream, New York. My parents still live there, in the house I grew up in. I left Long Island as fast as I could, going to undergraduate at the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Virginia. I then found my way out to the University of North Texas (Denton, Texas), where I earned my MA in Political Science in 2008 and my PhD in Political Science in 2012.
Life has taken me all over the world. I have lived in 6 countries, the United States, France, the Netherlands (Maastricht University), Italy (the European University Institute), Germany (University of Mannheim), and Texas.
I can't decide about the direction of causality, but living all over the world is certainly associated with my love of traveling. I've visited 43 countries on 4 continents to date.
Beyond my desire to see the entire world, I think the most salient part of my identity is my baseball fandom. When I'm not traveling, I'm watching baseball and analyzing baseball data.
Either way, this is me in a nutshell.
Oh, and I need to thank everyone who has helped me to get where I am. My adviser John Ishiyama, my incredible non-adviser mentors, Jae-Jae Spoon, Chris Wlezien, Ryan Bakker, and many others.
